The Nevada Karate Association was founded in 1966 by legendary Karate Master Gary Friederich. Shihan Friederich began training karate in 1963 at the Japan Karate Associaton in Tokyo, Japan, and continued his training there for 7 years. He was the first foreigner to attain the rank of Sandan (3nd Degree Black Belt), with the Japan Karate Association. He started the Nevada Karate Association with the strong commitment to the true spirit of Budo, as taught in Japan Karate Association, Shotokan Karate.

Shihan Frederich passed away on July 11, 2008, but his legacy lives on. Chief Instructor , Sensei Don Evans began training under Shin Frederick in 1970 and has been with the organization ever since. He followed in Shihan's footsteps by training in Japan with the Japan Karate Association and was invited to train with the Japan Karate Association Instructors class. For over 40 years the Nevada Karate Association has maintained one simple commitment, to teach Traditional Shotokan Karate in a spirited and respectful environment. We welcome all traditional martial artists and all those interested in persuing a true martial art.
